Charity focuses on projects that align with her artistic style - colorful, watercolor-inspired designs that weave in nature, animals, abstract elements, and emotion. She doesn’t take on every idea that comes her way, and instead curates projects where her style can shine. This ensures each piece is both a strong tattoo and a unique work of art tailored to you.

Yes! Charity enjoys the challenge of taking a tattoo you’re no longer happy with and reimagining it into something new. She’ll work with you to design a piece that not only transforms the old tattoo but also feels like artwork you’re excited to wear for life.

Charity’s standard process is to share your design on the day of your appointment and make any adjustments together then. For clients who would feel more comfortable seeing their design ahead of time, she offers special preview sessions for an additional fee. These sessions go beyond her usual process and give you extra time to review the artwork and request changes before tattoo day.

Charity takes on a variety of tattoo sizes, from smaller pieces to large-scale projects. What matters most is that the design aligns with her style and has enough space to allow the watercolor details and color work to shine. During your consultation, she’ll help determine the best size for your idea so it translates beautifully into a tattoo.

APPOINTMENT FAQ

Moisturize: Begin moisturizing the area getting tattooed once a day (Aveeno, Lubriderm, Cetaphil, or Hustle Butter are recommended).
Exfoliate: Exfoliate the area to be tattooed the day of or night before.
Hydrate: Start drinking lots of water leading up to your appt. + avoid alcohol for 48 hours + caffeine for 24 hours.
Moisturized, hydrated, exfoliated skin is happy skin. If your skin is dehydrated + brittle, we can't guarantee the time estimate given, as it takes much longer to get clean lines + smooth shading.
Eat: Clients are encouraged to eat a snack before appointments under an hour, and a full meal before sessions lasting longer than an hour. For full-day sessions, meal breaks can be taken as needed. Bringing snacks and water is always a good idea - tattooing puts the body through stress, and staying fueled and hydrated helps the process go more smoothly.

Please do NOT use numbing products of ANY KIND. The FDA has recently warned against using these types of products due to serious adverse side effects + complications. I’ve personally had several clients now who have experienced various types of reactions, resulting in the sessions taking longer, tattoos healing poorly + not looking as smooth as they should. The risk these products carry is simply not worth it.

Charity understands that some clients may want support during their tattoo, and approved guests are welcome. Since space is limited and it’s important to be considerate of other artists in the studio, please check with Charity in advance before bringing guests along.

If you are getting an arm tattoo, wear a loose short sleeve or tank top. If you are getting a back piece, bring a button down or zip up you can put on backwards. If you are getting a leg tattoo, wear shorts. Avoid wearing your Sunday best. We do our best to not get ink splatters on your clothes, but it happens sometimes. If you get cold easily, bring a hoodie!

TATTOO AFTERCARE FAQ
-

Leave on the bandage that was applied for 3-5 days, unless instructed otherwise. It is typical, and perfectly fine for blood, ink, and other fluids to collect under the bandage during this time. Until it is time to remove the bandage, be sure to not let shower water hit the bandaged area directly so the adhesive stays strong.
 -

Run a shower that is lukewarm. Let the water saturate the bandaged area to loosen the adhesive sticking to the skin. If there is adhesive residue on the tattoo, it can be gently removed over a period of one to several days using warm water and soap.
Before removing the bandage, thoroughly wash your hands using a mild, unscented liquid soap with no dyes or harsh chemicals. We like Dr. Bronner’s soap. It is available for purchase at our studio.
Slowly remove your bandage inch by inch under the water, being sure to start from the top and peel downward.
Once the bandage is off, lather the same soap in your hand so that it’s nice and foaming, and then gently clean the tattoo with your fingertips, removing the fluids that have collected on the area. Do not exfoliate or scrub, or use any loofahs or washcloths.
Rinse the tattoo until all of the soap is off, and then step out of the shower. To avoid contact with unnecessary germs, do not pat dry or use a bath towel. Let the tattoo air dry, or gently pat dry with a clean paper towel. If you are about to apply a new bandage, check with a clean hand that the bare skin around the edge of the tattoo is completely dry beforehand.
 -

Prepare the new bandage by peeling off the paper backing to reveal the adhesive side. Be sure to center the bandage so that the entire tattoo is covered.
Gently apply the bandage using light pressure. For best results, make sure the body part is relaxed and in a neutral position. Remove the plastic top layer, leaving only the thin transparent barrier on the skin.
Wear this second bandage for 2 to 4 days maximum, depending on the size and placement of the tattoo and your own life activities. After that period, remove the bandage and clean the area.
 -

Some people have sensitivities to adhesives. These can look like redness, swelling, or blistering around the edge of the bandage or underneath. If that’s the case, it’s best to carefully remove the bandage immediately and wash the area gently with unscented soap and water. Do not apply another bandage, and contact Charity.
 -

Apply a small amount of the product Charity recommended. (You never want to over-moisturize the tattoo). Some of the lotions we like are Lubriderm, Curel, Vaseline Intensive Care, and Aveeno (unscented, the fewer chemicals the better). Some of the ointments we like are Hustle Butter, Aquaphor, Aquatat, Vitalitree, Vitamin A+D, and coconut oil. Always wash your hands first and be gentle when applying lotion or ointment. This should be done 1 to 5 times daily.
Tattoos generally take 2 to 4 weeks to heal. Some scabbing may occur and it is very important to let these scabs fall off naturally. Never pick the scabs or pull them off! Scabs that are removed before they are ready to fall off naturally will often result in spotty coloring and longer healing times.
Wear loose, clean clothing around the tattoo. Let it “breathe” as much as possible. Some areas of the body, like feet, are often difficult to avoid covering. In these instances refer to the directions Charity gave you. *Never submerge your tattoo underwater. Showering is fine but remember to be gentle. Don’t soak the tattoo.
Avoid direct sunlight and UV rays. Tanning is very bad for a healing tattoo. Sunblock is also bad for a healing tattoo. However, after your tattoo has completely healed, using sunblock will help reduce fading over the years.
If you have pets, make sure to avoid getting pet hair on the tattoo.

If you think your tattoo may need a touch-up, send Charity an email. She’ll ask you to send a photo so she can assess how it’s healing. If a touch-up is needed, she’ll get you scheduled, and it will be free of charge.
